Print Selfies Right Away, Polaroid-Style and More with Prynt Instant Photo Processor

Many people are starting to turn to their mobile phones as the main device for taking taking photos resulting to the near extinction of the previously popular digital camera. A French company is well aware of that so they’ve introduced the new Prynt case, an instant photo processor that you can physically connect to your phone. Find out more about it below.

What is it exactly?

Cases, covers, or skins for smartphones and other mobile devices usually serve to give them protection, manifest the owner’s style, or even extend battery thru built-in power banks. However, a soon-to-be available smartphone case wants to put more fun into things by letting users print photos taken by their phones in less than one minute.

Instant photo processing has experienced a resurgence in recent times as evidenced by the popularity of standalone cameras like Instax by Fujifilm and the revival of Polaroid. Perhaps we should also thank Taylor Swift and her penchant for Polaroid photos of her cats. (Yep, cannot leave out Swiftie).

How It Works?

Since the Prynt case connects to  smartphone directly, there’s no need to pair the device using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It works by sending photos digitally to the case which is then printed by heating papers pre-filled with special ink. At present, the company said that it takes about 50 seconds for an image to be printed. For the final product, they intend to trim down the duration to around 30 seconds. The Prynt case can hold up to 30 pieces of photo paper.

Digital photography has undoubtedly made the “art” of picture-taking a more practical, economical and accessible activity for the modern consumer – a practice where quantity is boundless and quality is subject to, more often than not, mediocrity. While cyber space has offered a fast and easy way to album your stills for the masses to spectate and provide commentary on, there’s an intimacy affiliated with tangible photographs that simply doesn’t translate into the digital sphere. With Prynt, a phone case which also doubles as an instant camera, obtaining hard copies of documented moments are as easy as plugging in your mobile, snapping a picture, and watching it print all within a matter of seconds.
